EXTENDED Job Shadow

How do I set up an Extended Job Shadow?
(more than 8 hours)

*** If you are not currently enrolled at a college or university, you are not eligible for an extended job shadow experience.   Please work with your college/university contact to consider a student clinical placement if appropriate.***

Step 1: Identify the career you would like to shadow and facility which offers that area.
Click here for the current list of available job shadows.
Step 2: Email, mail or fax completed application and health requirements form to the contact person of the organization where you hope to do a job shadow.
  • If student is under age 18, parent/guardian MUST sign form.
  • Forms can be scanned and emailed, hard copy mailed or faxed to the appropriate contact person.
  • Please click here for a list of Job Shadow Facility Contacts.
Step 3: Review and Understand the Job Shadow Information Sheet.

  • It will take a minimum of two weeks for a facility representative to get back to you in regards to your application.
  • If you have to cancel once your shadow has been scheduled, call the facility contact person above and let them know you are not able to make your shadow.  It will be up to them to decide if they are able to reschedule or not.
  • Adhere to the dress code policy as listed in the information form.  Professional dress (no jeans, open toe shoes, etc.) is enforced.
  • Eat something before you arrive.
  • Turn off your cell phone!
  • Enjoy your experience and say thank you!
