Update (January 1, 2021): area healthcare organizations are working very hard on keeping patients, community members, and team members safe regarding the spread of COVID-19/Coronavirus. As part of this effort, area organizations are limiting the number of people going in and out of their facilities which has led to job shadows being indefinitely suspended.

What is a Virtual Career Experience Event?
VCE events are online-live interactions with a local healthcare professional. You can learn about the professional's academic and career journey, their daily routine, starting or average salary and types of patients they see or work with throughout the day. Participating students will have the opportunity to ask professionals questions.

What is Health Careers Camp?
The annual Fox Valley Summer Health Careers Camp is a collaborative initiative of the FVHCA. Program coordination and staff support is provided by Northeastern WI Area Health Education Center. The Camp is a 3 day program that provides an opportunity for high school students to experience first hand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions. The hands-on activities are facilitated by instructors and health care professionals. Diversity awareness and leadership skills training are included as a part of the camp experience. Chaperones are present on site at all times.

A job shadow is a non-hands on observational experience. You'll spend limited time with a professional in the health care area of interest in order to see what their daily job is like. For students interested in the healthcare field; the experience lasts 4 hours or less.
