About FVHCA

FVHCA History & Meetings

The Fox Valley Health Care Alliance (FVHCA) is  sponsored by of the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board and was formed in October 2004 to serve the counties of Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago. Full group meetings are held three to four times per year in Oshkosh and anyone with an interest in improving the state of healthcare in the Fox Valley area is welcome to attend!  For more information on our Member Organizations, please click here: FVHCA Organizations.

FVHCA Committees

FVHCA Executive Committee

The FVHCA has an Executive Committee which serves as the alliance’s leadership team. The Executive Committee has developed a set of organizational guidelines which provides further information on the group’s structure.  Each year, the Executive Committee develops work metrics and prioritizes projects for the coming year based on member needs.  It is truly a working group that listens to member feedback!

Norma Tirado (Agnesian) served as the FVHCA’s first chairperson (2004-2006); Linda Mingus (Aurora) served as chair from 2006 through 2008, and Zoe Cujak (FVTC) and Kristen Finnel (MPTC) co-chaired from 2008 - 2010. Kathy Duchac (Agnesian) and Suzanne Marnocha (UW-Oshkosh) are the current co-chairs.

FVHCA Education Outreach Committee (EOC)

The Education and Outreach committee was formed in 2010 at the request of the FVHCA members. The group works to combine the current education and outreach activities of all FVHCA healthcare organizations and educational facilities under one joint FVHCA effort. The idea is to best maximize resources while providing greater learning opportunities to the seven county region. The committee communicates with area high school teachers and counselors on how to best meet the needs of the area while also considering the capacity restraints of healthcare and education providers.

The Goals of the FVHCA-EOC include: increasing the number of students who receive healthcare career information, using a structured format to aid students and schools in the preparation of healthcare careers and classes, and better management of the high demand for on-site career exploration.

FVHCA Uniformity Committee 

The FVHCA Uniformity committee is a dynamic and energetic group of individuals who meet every month to discuss forms and processes; we also brainstorm on how to improve day to day operations from both the facility and school perspective. The committee works hard to improve communication amongst healthcare providers and schools, especially regarding clinical placements, in the Fox Valley area. We've standardized many forms processes among healthcare providers and schools in order to more easily provide information and to maximize time spent in clinicals.

FVHCA Preceptor Committees

The FVHCA Preceptor committee was formed in June of 2011 in response to FVHCA member requests to improve all circumstances were a preceptor is involved in student education.  A group of education and healthcare representatives brainstormed on areas that could and should have improvement, and three goals for the committee were identified.  The first goal was creating a standardized communication tool/process, including: 1) preceptor requests, 2) placement acceptance 3) preceptorship implementation, and 4) follow up (how was the experience in general, student evaluation, etc).

The committee has worked hard to develop a list of “Guidelines/Responsibilities for the Instructor, Preceptor/Agency, and Student” for undergraduate preceptorships. In the future the group will tackle goal #2 (preceptor training) and goal #3 (standard evaluations).

Throughout the past year, it became evident that there are some intricacies of the needs of the graduate program regarding preceptors.  To better meet this need, a subgroup of the regular Preceptor committee was formed to solely work on graduate program differences. Some members sit on both committees and information will be shared between the groups as appropriate.
